Coming off of a big win against the 49ers - a team that our doubters believed to be the class of the NFL until Sunday. In this league, anyone is capable of beating his opponent on any given week. So we must approach this week just like any other week. We take the field at home against the heavy underdog Jaguars but we are mainly focusing on carrying our momentum forward.
A lot of teams tend to let their guard down after a big win, and that is when the other team comes out on top. As a unit, we need to clean up our penalties. Here in Seattle, we are constantly competing to better each other and focusing on playing at a high level. Jacksonville has a lot of talented players and is capable of playing at a very high level. But we focus on us, our game and playing ball to the Seahawks standard. That’s what makes us different.
This week, we have also been maintaining a great amount of focus on being fundamentally sound when tackling. In this game, the lower man wins. It is our job to make sure we are the lower man when taking on all of these powerful running backs if we are going to be successful. I want to dominate whoever is in front of me. There are certain standards we have on our defense that must be upheld. With Maurice Jones-Drew being a game-time decision, we not only had to focus on preparing for him, but also backup running back Jordan Todman, rookie running back Denard Robinson and veteran running back Justin Forsett. There are no short cuts in our preperation.I am really impressed with a couple of our receivers - Stephen Williams and Jermaine Kearse. These two are loaded with talent, and I am expecting them to have big games this Sunday! As always, I am excited to play in front of the 12th man this weekend. Look to bring some noise!X
