Reflecting on the NFC Championship

First of all, I couldn’t be more proud of this team and our ability to fight through adversity. To face a situation like we were in on Sunday and pull out a win shows how special this team is. The will, drive and determination this group possesses are the reason we never stop fighting and will continue to compete until the final whistle. I couldn’t write a better story than the one we are putting together this season. I can’t wait for the chance to finish this amazing season off on the right note and compete for another Super Bowl championship.

I have always respected and loved the way Russell goes about his business. From the way he practices, to the way he carries himself off of the field – this man is someone that possesses unbelievable qualities. Last Sunday’s game may not have gone the way he wanted it to from an individual standpoint, but he continued to fight for this team and come through in a clutch situation for us. To me, his performance represents what we have done most of the year – find a way to win, with situations we are dealt. As a group, our offensive unit doesn’t give up on large deficits. Instead, they take it as a challenge and find ways to work back into the game and win. These types of guys are very hard to find, and are even more special to play with. I am proud of our offensive group for what they were able to accomplish last Sunday.

On the other side of the ball, we couldn’t be happier with the turnaround we made from the first half. Much like the offense, our defensive unit is a close-knit, high strung, competitive group that is willing to do anything to win. The adjustments we made at halftime made all the difference in the game, and I credit our coaching staff and the talented men I take the field with for that outcome. As a group, we have fought through a lot of injuries and other adversities to get to this final stage. I couldn’t be more proud of these guys and the perseverance we have shown to get to this point, and look forward to getting after it once again in Phoenix.

Fighting for the opportunity to win a Super Bowl is the reason I play this amazing game. I know I have said it before, but I couldn’t ask for a better group of guys to stand by my side and compete with me every week. Last week was one of the most special things I have ever been a part of, and I can’t wait to compete for the chance to cap off this amazing year. You 12’s are, and always will be the best fans in the NFL. I look forward to seeing all of you in Phoenix to help make history next Sunday!
