NFL Media Analyst Bucky Brooks just released an article ranking the top 10 defensive coordinators going into the 2015 season. Our guy Kris Richard was listed in the top 10, which is well deserved!
Coach Richard has really grown with us throughout the time he has been in Seattle. I think that growth is the reason we all respect him so much. He always makes sure we understand our strengths, our weaknesses, what we do well and what we don’t do well. The guy has great attention to detail, and does a great job managing our team’s personality. You all know that we have some.. let’s say “different” personalities in the DB room. He does an outstanding job understanding who everyone is and not coaching them the same. Everyone reacts differently to certain things, and Coach Richard recognizes that.
His attention to detail and preparation in game planning is meticulous (to say the least). You have to know every fit, you need to be informed about the run game and just be ready for every type of scenario. He prepares us for that. We’re rarely ever surprised by a formation going into games, or a play that the other team is going to run. The other team may have a play that they only ran once throughout the entire season, but we’ll be totally prepared for it because he knew and somehow anticipated them running it on us. He does a great job making sure we are in the right spots at the right time. Again, congrats to Coach Richard on being recognized as an elite defensive coordinator. Your hard work isn’t going unnoticed!
