The Meaning of Blanket Coverage

Blanket Coverage holds a special place in my heart. It was created to give back to underprivileged youth. Every year, we’ve increased the number of families that are included in our foundation, and a lot of this has occurred during Christmas time. It’s a great feeling to see people have a genuine appreciation for what you’re doing. The whole concept is contagious, and makes people want to give back to others. We can do a lot to improve the next generation, to make it better than the last.

I came from a place where there were a lot of underprivileged families. This drove me to lead by example. My past experiences have given me the mentality that anytime you can give back to people (especially underprivileged children), you have to do it. The Blanket Foundation has so many kind hearted volunteers. Simply put, we wouldn’t be where we are today without those dedicated individuals.

I want to spread this message to all of the kids out there: ANYTHING is possible! Don’t let your mind become boxed in. If you come from a low income area, you shouldn’t be limited by that. You can do anything you want to do as long as you set your mind to it. If you need a little assistance, I will try to do my part along the way. One of the best parts about my foundation has been meeting fantastic kids throughout the process.

To see families that have been through so much.. to see them smile, having fun, and letting their worries go away for a little while is an unbelievable feeling.

On top of the volunteers out there, we’ve had so many kind hearted individuals and businesses donate food and clothing to help our sponsored families. I also want to highlight some of the guys on my football team. I really appreciate all that these guys do, and it’s great how we can all support each other’s charities.

My next step is to get families involved earlier and allow them to have a hand in helping others. More often than not, these people don’t have any monetary gifts to give, but they are willing to give their time. One of the greatest feelings in life is giving back, whether that be through a monetary gift, or simply by volunteering your time to help someone in need.

As you know, July 19th is my 3rd annual Charity Softball Game. Proceeds will be donated to the Blanket Coverage Foundation. This is an amazing event that will feature a handful of celebrities and athletes. Find more details on the game here. The event is to support a great cause, and I hope to see all of you 12s out there!
