Ready to get back at it doing what I love to do, play football. These preseason games coming up give us a great opportunity to shake off some cobwebs and to get back into game speed tempo. Playing cornerback is a huge mental game, and you have to be able to limit distractions. These few games allow us to get in the right mental state, which is half the battle. Here are a few of my thoughts on the upcoming preseason games…
Always a crazy matchup against the Broncos. This is a solid squad and they have a lot of weapons both offensively and defensively. Have to watch out for Demaryius this year - the guy has length, he’s athletic, and just has a knack for bringing down the football. Obviously Peyton is one of the greatest to play the game, so this will be a solid way to kick off the preseason.
This will be another great battle, and will give us a lot of practice on offense and defense. Jeremy Maclin was a huge pickup by the Chiefs, and will be a tough assignment in the second week of the preseason. He has the ability to go up for the ball, but also has that quickness and break-away speed.
Looking forward to traveling down to San Diego for this game. Both Malcom Floyd and Keenan Allen are a dangerous combination with Rivers at the helm. These guys play with passion. We will definitely get some good reps in against this talented squad.
Last but not least, we’ve got our final matchup against the Raiders in Seattle. Glad that we are able to play our last preseason game in front of you 12s at the Clink! Derek Carr had a solid rookie season, and I’m sure he’s looking to get the ball rolling this year. This is the time to iron out any issues and gear up for the regular season, where every game counts.
12s, can’t wait to see you all out there!
