Week 9: A Mental Game

I have loved watching our young guys grow into their roles this year. A guy like Shaq has been hungry to know more and do more. He’s doing a great job of soaking in film and asking questions. This past Sunday for the Texans was a big eye opener for him.

I remember my first eye opening experience like that was at the end of my rookie season when we played against the Cardinals. I matched up against Larry Fitzgerald and he wore me out. He wasn’t beating me with speed or leaping ability but he was beating me with his craftiness. That’s when I learned that that you win in this game on the mental side and not the physical.

Every order is entered to win 2 tickets to Sunday's game!

As much as I’m excited about the growth of our young guys, I’m also pumped that we got a big addition this week when we made a trade for Texans offensive tackle Duane Brown. He is going to be able to come in here and help us immediately. I think the trade says a lot about the belief that our front office has in us. They belief that this team can chase a championship and they want to do everything they can to shore up any perceived weakness. I think our front office guys are doing an awesome job.

We’re looking forward to matching up with the Redskins offense this week. Terrelle Pryor will be a good match up with his mix of size, speed and hands. You can’t sleep on the rest of their receivers though. Guys like Crowder and Grant are savvy play makers. Kirk Cousins throws a great deep ball, makes outstanding decisions and is far more athletic than people give him credit for. We are ready for this showdown.
