Richard Sherman Cracks Top 10 In All Time Cornerback List

Gil Brandt's recent string of lists on the best players ever at each position has been relatively favorable to the Seahawks.

Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor both made his list of the greatest safeties ever, and unsurprisingly, the Legion of Boom is represented on the cornerback side as well. Coming in at No. 9 on Brandt's list of the best cornerbacks is Richard Sherman. His accomplishments according to Brandt are listed below.

"» One-time Super Bowl champion

» Voted to four Pro Bowls, First Team All-Pro three times

» Has recorded 30 career interceptions thus far"

Sherman's impact can't be boiled down to what he does on the field. He is the voice of the Seahawks and the most important player in their locker room. He speaks his mind, and that has become the attitude of the entire team. No matter where he ranks on a list like this, his value can't be fully quantified.

It doesn't hurt that in Sherman's five seasons as a full-time starter, the Seahawks have never finished lower than eighth in passing defense. Combine that with a pair of first place finishes in that span and Sherman is at the head of what might be the greatest run a single secondary has ever had.

For Sherman to finish No. 9 on a list like this so early in his career is a testament to the incredible job he's done so far as a Seahawk. If he continues to play like this for the rest of his career, he might end up supplanting Deion Sanders at No. 1.
