Seahawks Prevail over Arizona
Despite dealing with a plethora of injuries, the Seattle Seahawks took down the Arizona Cardinals with a 22-16 victory on Thursday night.
The list of players the Seahawks lost on Thursday includes newly acquired left tackle Duane Brown, running back C.J. Prosise, rookie defensive tackle Jarran Reed, defensive end Frank Cloark, safety Kam Chancellor, linebacker Michael Wilhoite, and, most significantly, star cornerback Richard Sherman.
Sherman left Thursday’s game with a torn Achilles and will miss the remainder of the season.
Seattle prevailed against its division rival, thanks to a stingy run defense and a pair of touchdown connections between quarterback Russell Wilson and tight end Jimmy Graham. The Seahawks defense swarmed Cardinals running back Adrian Peterson at the line of scrimmage all night and held the star runner to just 29 yards on 21 attempts.
"It's a good division win, a good team win," Seattle linebacker Bobby Wagner said afterward, "but it's hard to truly appreciate it when you see a lot of guys go down with minor injuries, serious injuries."
The win puts the Seahawks at 6-3 and sitting in prime position for another playoff run, but overcoming a long list of key injuries will make a strong finish difficult. Seattle sits a half-game behind the first place Los Angeles Rams in the NFC West, while Arizona now falls to 4-5 this year.
Next week, the Seahawks play host to the reigning NFC Champion Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football.
